My thanks to Richard and Alex for introducing me to the Orcia Valley.The Val d'Orcia is a UNESCO "World Heritage Site".

It's one of those places that repays you for getting up early. The scenery needs the longer shadows of early morning or late evening and its fascinating how the earth changes colour with the time of day.

We had planned to visit Northern Tuscany in 2011, it would have be interesting to see how the areas differ, but health issues stopped that dead in its tracks.
