Built in the 16th century to protect the town from Pirates and to hold prisoners. Built at a time when canon were just being deployed, the rounded walls were to deflect the shot.
Rapello is north of the Cinque Terre coastline and was our base for the week. We arrived on a wet day in mid September, luckily the weather cleared up after a couple of days.
