44932 Black Five
Black Five was running from Poole to Bristol today, 25 November 2010. Running about 15 minutes behind schedule she was pulling West Coast carriages and a lot of them at that.
Due to a prior appointment with the GP for my Commercial Endorsement medical I was late, hence another shot from Gramshaw Crossing as this is reasonably close. A bitterly cold day, but that made the steam and smoke very dramatic as she worked her way up the incline out of Salisbury Station.
Shot using a 30D with 100-400L IS lens set to 135mm, using f/8 & 1/100s at ISO 400. As always, I used a monopod for this. To prevent the sky burning out I stacked two of my NGD filters, combined they totalled 5 stops and I could have used more. I tried using my new CPL but the suns angle was wrong.
