Little Egret

Little Egret

At one time these were extremely rare birds in Britain. Thankfully they have made a miraculous recovery and we now have several in the area. This one happily tolerates children playing in the stream nearby, at least up to a point.

It does a very peculiar fluttering dance every now and again, whether this is some kind of odd fishing technique or practising a mating ritual I have no idea. Anyone know?

Canon 30D, 100-400L with 1.4x converter, so effectively 560mm. 1/500s at f/8
