Salisbury Cathedral with Old Sarum on the skyline just to the left of the spire. Local mythology would have us believe that an acher shot an arrow from a longbow from Old Sarum and the Cathedral was built where it landed. Thats over 2 miles!

No, what really happened was that the Cathedral is built on a gravel bed alongside the river, on the best load bearing strata the builders could find.
