2008 and 2009 events
Very early in the 2008 season the Superbikes arrived at a cold, cloud covered Thruxton. This was my first opportunity to try out the 100-400L IS lens, having exchanged a Sigma 170-500.
The 2009 event was very different, with a glorious hot sun and track temperatures of 40 degrees. I experimented with much lower shutter speeds this time, which resulted in a LOT of failures which I have no intention of showing anyone!
All shot with my Canon 30D using a monopod.
Thruxton is a very open, fast track and The Complex, especially the exit where the 2008 shots were taken, is a popular spot for photographers. It's also a good spot for dodgy overtaking moves and the inevitable accidents that follow. For 2009 spectators were excluded from this spot. Why?
